Amino Acids and How They Relate to Athletics. Exposition Example Amino Acids and How They Relate to Athletics. Exposition Amino Acids and How They Relate to Athletics. Exposition By: Jayquan S Salmond Out of all the amino acids, 8 are delegated basic amino acids. The body thinks that its difficult to consolidate them with different mixes at an ordinary level to aid sufficient development. The 8 are known as phenylalanine, valine, threonine, tryptophan, isoleucine, methionine, leucine, and lysine. At the point when the isoleucine, leucine, and valine are gathered they are called BCAA or expanded chain amino acids. 1/3 of the body’s skeletal muscles are comprised of BCAA. Skeletal muscles are basic when the body moves. So they help the bones and joints all well. Thus, BCAA advances the development of muscle and the complete fix of the muscles in the body in the wake of preparing. This is exceptionally viable in athletes’ bodies when it time for weight preparing. The Strata Manufacturing in 2010 turned into the composite organization for creating air structure. It is situated in Al Ain. It is a piece of the aviation correspondence organization possessed by Mubadala. The organization satisfies hopes almost with its accessories and clients to pass on innovative, monetarily astute courses of action that join driving edge headways, best work on collecting techniques, and a consolidated creation system to the overall flight part. The objective of the organization is to make a varying, sensible, and forefront items to the world. Filling in as a professional in the organization and a group chief, the objectives of the organization get the chance to be partitioned and contributed by each worker in their segments of specialization. Each worker set the objectives in order to line up with that of the office just as that of the whole organization. The organization objectives can be sorted as quick objectives, momentary objectives, Intermediary objectives, and long haul objectives. Prompt objectives are define of objectives that need achievement in an exceptionally brief timeframe. It is the place moment results get the chance to be seen achieved. The length ranges from hours to weeks. Then again, momentary objectives are objectives that need achievement in a not so distant future. The span is for the most part inside many months. Long haul objectives are objectives that should be practiced in a further future. It calls for arranging and readiness and takes term of over a year. Objective setting any of the kinds of objectives, it incorporates the improvement of an action game plan expected to impel and assistant a man or assembling to accomplishing a goal. It very well may be guided by target setting standards (or rules, for instance, SMART rules. Objective setting is a significant piece of mindfulness and organization composing. As indicated by inquire about by Locke (2001), an increasingly specific and longing destinations lead to more execution of progress than basic or general targets. The length of the individual recognizes the target, can achieve it, and doesn't have conflicting goals; there is a positive direct connection between target issue and task execution (Grant, Anthony, 2012). As a group chief, the objectives get accomplished by setting goals that is going to impact brings about four different ways: Decision: objectives and destinations tight thought and direct undertakings to objective appropriate activities, and a long way from saw unfortunate and goal unessential exercises. Exertion: objectives and goals can incite more effort; for example, on the off chance that one customarily makes 4 devices 60 minutes, and has the target of making 6, one may work more genuinely towards the goal than one would somehow. Ingenuity: someone gets the opportunity to be progressively inclined to work through difficulties if looking for after a goal. Comprehension: objectives and goals can lead individuals to make and change their direct. In my own ability as a specialist, I see what Locke and Latham (2002) demonstrated as the methods for achieving accomplishment through legitimate defining of objectives. In achieving the momentary objectives in my docket, the first is pledge to the set objectives. People perform better when they are centered around achieving certain goals. Through an appreciation of the effect of target setting on singular execution, affiliations have the ability to use target setting to benefit dependable execution. The centrality of the typical consequences of objective satisfaction, and sensibility toward one's conviction give one the capacity to achieve the goals, and obligation to others certifications or commitment to others can unequivocally upgrade obligation. It impacts fair and square of obligation by how pleasant the individual is with the group head apportioning the target. An external variable can moreover be the genuine instances of the single individual. State if they endeavor to be like their most cherished player, the individual is progressively disposed to propel more push to their own work and targets (Kegan et al., 2013). Internal factors can get from their help level in the work to accomplish the target. What they foresee from themselves can either flourish their thriving, or pound it. Furthermore, the individual may need to appear to be superior to their buddies or opponents. They have to achieve the goal the best and be known for it. The prize toward oneself of completing a goal is ordinarily one of the standard keys that keep individuals presented (Locke, 2001). It is noted by Locke and Latham (2004) that objective setting theory neglects to hold the issue of time point of view if the suitability of objective setting can't be explained by two pieces of time the board: the rule of predictable misfortunes. Like the understanding the aggregate of the parts can be more essential than the entire, a division of an errand into a couple, speedy, sub-objectives appears to abuse these two segment (Locke Latham, 2004). Taking everything into account, it is basic to design a head, especially when one is endeavoring to accomplish a specific objective. It's fundamental to picture every one of the means expected to accomplish the objectives. Also, endeavor, fight and remain positive. The objectives won't happen unexpectedly, they in like manner won't occur without work. One should defeat various obstacles before accomplishing the needed objectives.

Hi, Applicant to the Class of 2021!

Hi, Applicant to the Class of 2021! Hi, Whew, its been a long week! But I was thinking today about this time during my senior year of high school and that was really (in)tense. I havent experienced that much uncertainty in my life before or since. I mean, that semester Id think thatI was heading to MIT one hour and then think that I wasnt getting into my state college the next. And I got lots of work here now, but at least I know the professors will accept it. So I wanted to reach out to you, MIT Applicant for the Class of 2021, and see how youre doing. If you havent started worrying about the applications yet, thats cool. I started worrying sophomore year of high school, and definitely wasnt wiser by senior year. Once Id gone through the respectable sources about college admissions, I descended into the depths of College Confidential forums. Now, dont go to these, but there are whole threads where people post their stats, activities, and essay summaries, and then say whether they did or did not get in. Trust me, theres no pattern in those posts nor any clues as to whether you will get accepted. And dont look at those 50 Best Admissions Essays from Top Colleges compilations either because, really, they arent that great. How many accepted students would actually volunteer their private essays to an outside company? Probably not enough to make the competition for 50 Best representative of the actual applicant pool. They have one of those Best Essays compilations in print now, on display at the front of the Harvard COOP. Gross! I urge you to resist the temptation to compare and contrast. You might be wondering: do I even have a chance? How do I know if I should apply? The former of those questions is hard because, the thing is, no one knows their chances. Well, at least most people dont. I had no idea what kind of people actually got into MIT when I applied. I didnt even fully trust that ordinary people could attend. Here are some simpler questions: Do you have good grades and test scores? Did you challenge yourself (in or out of school)? Did you do some stuff you thought was cool in high school (even if it was in your parents garage)? Did you do stuff that was useful in high school (like holding a job or tutoring or helping at home)? Can you write an essay about yourself? If the answer is yes to four or more of those questions, youve just calculated your chances of acceptance as well as anyone else can. If you feel lost and alone in the whole admissions process, let me tell you what happened my senior fall. I was terrified. I was fine with grades and stuff, but I didnt know if Id taken enough challenging classes (lagging way behind my classmates on the number of AP classes). I didnt go too far out of my way to do stuff, since I couldnt drive. All of my projects were either at my school or the local library that I could get to on foot in 10 minutes. Hell, I couldnt get into my schools Honors Society sophomore year! Should I even attempt to go to the next step? Since 1991, I think only two people had gotten into MIT from my high school, so I didnt have a point of reference. I was an immigrant, too, and so were my parents, so I was majorly confused about the American College Application Process. Most of my visits to college websites started and ended with the Net Price Calculator (a nice tool to remind you that you cant afford a $60,000 per year education). I went to info sessions and read the admissions blogs. In October, I gave up and had a month-long Kurt Vonnegut binge that was unrelated to college but did inspire me for at least a couple of my essays (which concerned my English teacher, who didnt want me to turn into a 30-year old cynic at age 18). Every day, well, even more often than that, I would flip-flop on whether I should even apply to MIT. A middle school dream and promise of financial aid reminded me that I should at least try. So I did. And I have a ton of people to thank for that. Really, it was a so we did: my parents, who read all my essays many many times, as well as all looked over all the other parts of my application and everything college-related, and believed in me through it all; my teachers, who also read my essays and wrote recommendations and gave me different forms of encouragement and ways to look at my credentials with hope; my counselor, who was new to the school and did her best to answer my numerous questions and help me get my stuff together and hope for the best; my mentors outside of school, who had wonderful things to say and also, when I asked them for recommendation letters, write. I hope you have someone to reach out to as well. Because even if they cant help you with the specifics of the college process, they will offer encouragement that you can never gain yourself. If youre lost, I promise you that youre not alone. If you feel like you dont have enough resources, reach out. Theres always someone there. Looking forward to hearing from you, Bye Post Tagged #Early Action

Cristina Garcias Dreaming in Cuban Essay - 3280 Words

Cristina Garcia’s Dreaming in Cuban tells the story about three generations of a Cuban family and their different views provoked by the Cuban revolution. Though part of the same family, an outsider might classify them as adversaries judging by relationships between one another, the exiled family members, and the differentiations between political views. Although all of these central themes reoccur over and over throughout the narrative, family relationships lie at the heart of the tale. The relationships between these Cuban family members are for the most part ruptured by any or a combination of the above themes. Every individual relationship mentioned in the book consists of at least one direct family member of Celia del Pino. The reader can plainly see that Lourdes is both embarrassed and ashamed of what her mother was and is unwillingly to forgive her. Lourdes claimed her mother was dead to garner pity from strangers so they would buy her sweets, and secretly wished it were true at times. The second reason is simply a generation difference. One might assume that due to the very different upbringings and the societies that the two were brought up in, that very conflicting morals and values may have been molded. Celia grew up in a Cuba under the rule of a dictator-like, oppressive leader. Celia saw Cuba’s true poverty stricken state and long for a new regime. Reasons for Lourdes’s rebellious attitude toward her mother and Cuba in general are much more abundant and clear. Though Lourdes was raised in a very similar society as of that of her mother’s upbringing, but the severity of the government that ruled during her childhood produced a different view of the country all together. Essay on Extreme Sports - 937 Words

Extreme Sports Works Cited Missing â€Å"Extreme sports have boomed since the early 90s† (Petrecca 16). It is hard to believe that such activities as sky diving, snowboarding, bungee jumping, and the up and coming razor scooter have been labeled as so-called â€Å"extreme sports†. What characteristics must a sport have to labeled extreme? Perhaps it is the lack of safety, or the inability to create specific rules for these sports. Maybe it is the fact that these sports are just recently becoming mainstream so there is no other classification other than extreme sports. It will help the staff learn to trust each other more, and increase the level of understanding between everyone. Although there are rules in snowboarding, these rules apply only in competition racing. They are basic rules, which apply to most any other sport. When in competition there is really only one rule, to be sober. When establishing rules for people who just go snowboarding to have fun, there aren’t any. But due to the lack of knowledge of technology, customers prefer offline grocery stores. For the people who are not techno savvy, it is tough to compare the products, access the applications or websites of the online grocery store and placing orders online. These customers prefer going to offline stores and asking for discounts (Mulpuru, et. al., 2010). Increasing competition: competition in the online business is increasing. There are various organisations which are operating online for offering grocery products to the customers through online mode. For coping with the competition, discounts or offers are offered to the customers which result in loss to the companies (Osman, et. al., 2010). Wastage and marketing cost: huge stocks need to be maintained by the online grocery stores for offering variety to the customers, attracting them and retaining the customers. This has resulted in wastage of the grocery products which affects the financial performance of the online grocery businesses. Cost of marketing is also high as effective marketing strategies need to be used for the promotion and advertisement of the store (?elik, 2011). Loyalty among the customers: loyalty among the customers needs to be developed so as to enhance the customer base and operating in an effective Customer loyalty is a major challenge in the online grocery business as discounts or offers are being provided by online grocery businesses to the customers. These offers or discounts affect the loyalty among the customers. Woolworths need to offer discounts and offers to the customers for developing strong employee base (Muhammad, et. al., 2016). Recommended strategies for dealing with the challenges For the purpose of coping with these challenges, there is a need to adopt few solutions or strategies. These strategies are discussed below: Use of Just-in-time supply system: this system will help in the management of the inventories in a better manner. This approach will reduce the cost of the online grocery business. Inventory cost of the online grocery business will get reduced with the use of just-in-time supply system (Mulky, 2013). Implementation of asset-light business model: a logistics company can be hired by Woolworths for offering fast delivery and reducing the burden on the employees of the company. This will reduce the cost of the company by reducing the need for delivery staff and vehicles for delivering the orders. Entering into a partnership with the local transportation or delivery service providers: Woolworths can enter into a contract with the local delivery service providers as to ensure that the quick delivery of the orders placed by the customers is Merging the offline business with an online business: offline businesses can be merged with the online business for shifting the choice of customers from offline stores to online stores (Ravikiran, 2013). Easy to use interface: the interface of the website or application of the online grocery store needs to be easy and attractive. Customers who are not techno savvy will be able to use the application properly and this will contribute towards the enhancement of the customer base of Woolworths. Every company operating online grocery business need to develop effective mediums for attracting the customers. Setting up online stores in the main markets: online stores can be set up or warehouses can be set up in the main markets so as to deliver the products or orders well on time and enhancing the satisfaction level of the customers (Soler, 2010). Conclusion Thus, from the above conclusion, it can be mentioned that the trend of online grocery business has increased with the change in technology and business environment. Woolworths is performing well in the online grocery industry and focusing on the expansion of the area of operation of the online grocery business. There are various challenges creating an impact on the performance of the online grocery businesses. These challenges have been discussed in this assignment along with the various solutions or strategies which can be applied for dealing with these challenges. Being a Member of a Family Presents Numerous Challenges Essay Example

Being a Member of a Family Presents Numerous Challenges Essay Example Being a Member of a Family Presents Numerous Challenges Essay Being a Member of a Family Presents Numerous Challenges Essay Introduction: Hook In the human society, a family is a group of persons conglomerated through consanguinity, affinity through marriage or co-residence. Having a good family is an important part of living as it provides persons with moral, social and financial support among others. Directions of Argument Today, balancing between work and family has become an immense challenge among numerous families. Due to the increased economic challenges in todays society, most parents are mandated to work for long hours to achieve their financial objectives. Thesis Statement This essay is a discussion of why being a member of a family presents numerous challenges today due to the increased need to work for long hours to satisfy the family day-to-day financial demands. Argument 1#: Topic Sentence The escalating cost of essential services such as education and healthcare services in U.S. has increased significantly over the last decade. Point 1: This has resulted to numerous couples working in different jobs for long hours in an effort to afford such amenities for their families. Proof: According to the United States Bureau of Statistics, in numerous married couple relations, both spouses work (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2002). In 2000, approximately 53.2 percent of married spouses were employed (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2002). Explanation As a result, most couples find it a challenge to balance between their demanding professions and their families. Point 2: Today, the roles of men and women in the American society has reversed. Proof: According to an article published in the New York Times, 4 in every 10 households with children under 18 includes a mother who is either the primary or the sole breadwinner in the homestead (Rampbell, 2013). Explanation This is because unlike in the past, more women today have taken up various roles in the society that were previously reserved for men. Such roles include leadership positions, formal employments, army and management positions among others. In reference to such jobs, some of the professions that women engage in can be very demanding. For instance, a soldier woman can go for months without being in a position to see her family. Point 3: The evolution of organized childcare managed support services for working mothers in the U.S. has also hampered the ability of persons to be with their families. Proof: In the U.S., one-third of all children belonging to employed mothers attain managed care services in organized facilities like the day care centers (CHUSA, 2014). Explanation For this reason, a significant number of parents prefer to leave their young children in managed care centers and then use their time to perform other economic functions. In most cases, such functions entail working for long hours to earn some income. Conclusion: Restatement of Thesis Today, being a member of the family has become a big challenge to most parents due to the need to work for long hours so as to satisfy the family day-to-day financial demands. Direction of Arguments #1). The need to work for long hours has been facilitated by the increased costs of essential services such as education and healthcare services in the nation. #2). The role of women in the American society has also changed and today, a large proportion of women are working for long hours in professions that were previously reserved for the men. #3). The emergence of management childcare services has enabled women to work for long hours in the fields of career. Final Thought It is evident that most persons in the American society find it a challenge to be with their families. This is because most of them work for long hours in an effort to fulfill the financial obligations for their family members. Nevertheless, it is important for every person to be part of a family unit. This is because it aids in their successful growth as well as development. References Bureau of Labor Statistics. (2002). Amazon.com Vision, Mission and Strategy

Amazon.com Vision, Mission and Strategy Introduction Amazon was started by Jeff Bezos as the worlds biggest bookstore but slowly changed from this single-product model to a multi-product enterprise which deals with a wide array of products satisfying an even broader base of consumers. Rosier (2002) concedes that Amazon.com has established itself as a household brand in the USA and is arguably the best-known online brand.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Amazon.com: Vision, Mission and Strategy specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Since its birth, Amazon.com has moved from solely dealing with books to involving a myriad of other products. Kalakota and Robinson (2001) assert that an organization must continually strive to fulfill customer needs which include; convenience, consistency and reliability. Amazons venturing into different products thus complements the customer’s needs as opposed to sidetracking the original customer by offering them mor e convenience in that they can get not only books but also other products from the same place. Despite its diversification strategy, Amazon.com still engages in strong online branding so as to foster loyalty and a feeling of trust among its consumers (Arvidsson, 2006). In its book section, the company encourages people to write reviews on books thus offering a community-like interaction which generates emotional ties. This move underscores the fact that the company still holds the book section as one of its core entities and care is taken to maintain and increase its consumer base. These qualities and strategies have enabled the company to attain its goals and vision of being the world biggest bookstore and satisfying its client needs. Vision statement According to Hill and Jones (2009), a vision statement is a phrase that describes a desired outcome. The authors state that a vision statement should inspire, energize and help the reader develop a mental picture of the set target. As such, this is the proposed vision statement for Amazon.com: Acts as a foundation from which every aspect of our business is developed. It guides our operations by highlighting what is needed to accomplish our goals and objectives of achieving sustainable and quality growth.Advertising Looking for research paper on business economics? Portfolio: bring to the global market a range of online services that foresee and satisfy our client’s needs and desires. Partners: foster a successful network of clients and suppliers with whom quality and enduring value can be created. Planet: influence positive change that will facilitate in building and supporting sustainable communities. Profit: maximize long-term benefits to shareholders, all the while maintaining ethical practices in all our operations. Productivity: be an effective and proactive organization. Mission statement Hill and Jones (2009) define a mission statement as a written affirmation that outlines the core purpose of an organization and its focus. The authors state that in most cases, a mission statement remains unchanged over time. With this in mind, a satisfactory mission statement should be: Our mission is to run the best online bookstore, irrespective of the products and services that we offer. Considering the nature of our business, our ambitions must coincide with the principles that govern the products that exist in our stores. To state that our mission does not depend on the products and services that we offer is to undermine the importance of being an online bookseller. As online booksellers we aim to be the best in this line of business, no matter the size, nature and affiliations of our competitors. We will be at the forefront when it comes to innovating new and better styles and app roaches to bookselling. Our strategy will be in line with the set and evolving aspirations. Above all, we expect to be a benefit to the communities that we cater for, a useful resource to our clients, and an avenue through which different stakeholders can grow and prosper. Not only will we be a listening and caring partner to our clients and booksellers but also promote the idea that we are always at their service. Recommended implementation strategy While offering of † free shipping plans† and express shipping services is expensive and does cut into the profit margin of the company, Amazon.com should continue to offer these services to its clients. Competition in the online retail market is every increasing and as such, a company needs to give itself a competitive advantage over its competitors. These â€Å"super saver shipping† scheme offers one such means since it proposes to offer the consumers value added services thus setting Amazon.com apart from its compet itors. Considering that Amazons marketing strategy is pegged on an increase in customer traffic so as to promote repeat purchases and strengthen the brand name, the free shipping plan appeals to customers thereby leading to an increase in the traffic on the site. Pasiuk (2006) confirms that Amazon considered its free shipping offer as a marketing expense whose primary objective is to attract and retain customers.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Amazon.com: Vision, Mission and Strategy specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More While there is no doubt as to the increase in cost that Amazon.com incurs due to this schemes thus leading to decreased profitability, the increased traffic leads to increased turnover for the company. This leads to increased profits which compensate for the relative cost incurred in the provision of the services. Membership plans lead to loyalty and a sense of affiliation to the company by the consumers. These plans involve increased customization which entails tailoring of services so as to suit the unique case of the customers (Hill and Jones, 2009). While this does come at the cost of having to offer customized services which lead to rise in cost structure, it enables Amazon to respond to customer demands very quickly to the advantage of both the customer and the company. By upholding these strategies, Amazon.com will be able to meet and fulfill its mission and vision statements all the while maintaining a stable competitive advantage against its aggressive and ever-increasing competitors. The Vietnam War and America's Involvement Research Paper

The Vietnam War and America's Involvement - Research Paper Example The Vietminh engaged in guerilla warfare against the Japanese, aided by the supply of arms from the Soviet Union and the United States. On the defeat of Japan in 1945, Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam’s unilateral independence and announced the formation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Minh sought American support. In spite of substantial Vietminh collaboration during World War II, Franklin D. Roosevelt failed to respond to Minh’s appeal (Simkin). American involvement and defeat in the Vietnam War was the result of America’s Cold War ideology, support for Ngo Dinh Diem, and anti-war public sentiment. After World War II, fearing communist China’s influence over Vietnam, America rejected Minh’s appeal for support in his bid for independence. As France sought to re-establish dominion over Vietnam, Minh again appealed in vain for help. America desired French support in Western Europe. President  Eisenhower  explained the link between Vietnam's st atus and that of the rest of Southeast Asia through the â€Å"Domino Theory†: â€Å"If one country fell to communism, the rest of them would follow† (â€Å"Milestones (1953-1960)†). America gave France massive aid, while Minh was supported by the Soviet Union and communist China. Vietnam, thus, became a theatre of the Cold War. In July 1954, Vietnam overthrew France’s colonial rule with the decisive victory at Dien Bien Phu. At the subsequent Geneva Peace Accords of 1954, the United States was influenced by â€Å"the strains of the international Cold War† (Brigham), having suffered heavy losses in the fight against communism in Korea. Vietnam was pressurized by China and the Soviet Union to accept the temporary partition of the country at the seventeenth parallel, with the understanding that reunification would follow the general election scheduled for 1956. Fearing that the elections would result in the consolidation of power by the communist Ho C hi Minh, America, under President Eisenhower, mounted a covert anti-communist campaign in the South (Simkin). This anti-communist stand led to active American involvement in the quagmire of Vietnam. The United States established a puppet regime in South Vietnam led by Ngo Dinh Diem, who was unpopular, corrupt, and autocratic. Diem brazenly opposed reunification and unleashed state terror on all opposition. In spite of widespread Vietnamese opposition, the United States continued to prop up Diem’s regime with military, economic and political aid, as a bulwark against the Communist North. Diem’s American advisers set about training the South Vietnamese army (ARVN) and connived in the rigged election of 1955 to keep Diem in power. Diem then rejected North Vietnam’s call for general elections in 1956 and indulged in an orgy of arrests of political dissidents including communists, socialists, journalists, religious leaders, and even children. Growing opposition to Di em led to the formation of the the  National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam  (NLF), or the Viet Cong, in 1960. It was supported by Ho Chi Minh. John F. Kennedy continued to support Diem, quoting the importance of the â€Å"Domino Theory,† and supplied South Vietnam with money and military advisers. The American sponsored â€Å"Strategic Hamlet Program† of isolating the peasants from the NLF in villages with stockades increasing dissent. American military advisors and soldiers increasingly became involved in the fighting. Diem, a Catholic, went on to unleash force against the Buddhist

United States vs Recio Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

United States vs Recio - Research Paper Example The two drivers help the police arrest two other individuals, Recio and Meza, the defendants in this case. The two truck drivers are found in possession of the illegal drugs together with Recio and Meza who come for the drugs, rounded up and charged with conspiracy to commit a criminal offence of distributing illegal drugs (www.oyez.org). It is clear that the two drivers were part of the conspiracy because they were actually found with the drugs. However, it requires careful interpretation of the law to determine whether Recio and Meza who are only arrested after police lays a sting by the help of the truck drivers, are also guilty of the offense. The two, Recio and Meza, are tried in the Supreme Court and the jury find them guilty of conspiracy. The trial Judge advises that the precedence on similar case and the law dictates that conspiracy ends when its object is defeated by the government and so joining conspiracy scheme after seizure would be meaningless since the object of conspiracy would be impossible to achieve in such circumstances. Based on this, the trial judge orders a new trial and the new jury are advised on the circumstances of the seizure so as to be able to establish whether or not, Recio and Meza, joined the conspiracy before the seizure. The Constitutional Issues in the Case Following the trial on the two counts of charges presented against the defendants, Jimenez Recio and Adrian Lopez i.e. possession of i llegal drugs- marijuana and cocaine and the charge on distribution of illegal drugs, several constitutional issues emerge. It is clear that, there is an issue on the interpretation of the law of conspiracy as to when someone is deemed to have conspired. The law herein dictates that a person can only be found guilty of conspiracy if it can be proved that the person entered into conspiracy, before withdrawal of such intention or before the object of conspiracy was defeated by government intervention and the object became difficult to achieve. The state fails to prove this but the defendants are found guilty by the jury on both trials. There is also a constitutional issue that emerges from the trial judge in the Supreme Court during the first trial, from an error in the jury instruction. The jury are not adequately informed on the requirement of the law in relation to the case before them. The jury is not advised on which circumstance the defendants are guilty of the charges and so the y pass a verdict on the defendants being guilty without actually being able to ascertain their involvement in the conspiracy. The other issue that emerge is the precedence on similar case notably United States versus Cruz and United States versus Castro which had similar circumstances but the courts argued that they joined the conspiracy when its object had been defeated and thus became impossible to achieve. If this was the case that was referred to, then the state had to provide evidence showing the involvement of Recio and Adriano Lopez to the conspiracy of drug possession with intent to distribution. This was obviously not achieved during the two trials at the Supreme Court. The precedence on other cases provides a guideline and benchmark for ruling on subsequent cases. Decision of the case in terms of the vote In this case, the jury found the defendants guilty of both charges in a vote of 8 for guilty with 1 vote against the state, and thus becoming a unanimous vote. The defend ants appealed against the vote and the case was remanded to the court of appeal which ruled that the conviction of guilty for both charges be removed. This was basing its argument on

Strategic management and information systems at Tesco

Strategic management and information systems at Tesco Outsourcing ICT is quite commonly used by organisations as an approach to strategic management. Assess the advantages and disadvantages that outsourcing can bring in developing effective uses of information systems in an organisation such as Tesco. What do you understand by knowledge management and knowledge management systems? Analyze how useful such a system could be to Tesco and why it is often difficult to persuade employees to use such systems. As markets evolve the companies that are in the top seats are the ones that excel in organizing human resources and materials, also forecasting the possible changes in markets. To manage this many companies use the help of other companies to grow in this straggle of competition. This is called Outsourcing. If a firm does not want to use its internal resources to build or operate information systems, it can hire an external organization that specializes in providing these services to do the work. The process of turning over an organizations computer center operations, telecommunications networks, and/or applications development to external vendors is called outsourcing (Laudon Laudon, 2005). This definition covers the greatest part of Outsourcing, but what happens when we refer to ICT Outsourcing? First of all, what is ICT? Information Technology (IT) is probably one of the most used terms in business nowadays. Information shouldnt be confused with knowledge, unfortunately this happens occasionally. The term information is used extensively in no formal speech. This, and the different meanings used, makes it hard to define. From my point of view after studying on this subject, information covers data to which meaning is assigned, according to context and assumed conventions. Knowledge is derived from information. (Miller, 1999) Any equipment or interconnected system or subsystem of equipment, that is used in the automatic and digital acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching, interchange, transmission, or reception of data or information. The term information technology includes computers, ancillary equipment, software, firmware and similar procedures, services (including support services), and related resources. Taking under consideration the above we conclude that ICT Outsourcing can be defined as follows. Information Technology outsourcing is the concept of an organization contracting-out IT activities to a third party vendor, who in return provides and manages the services for a certain period of time in exchange for a monetary fee. The deal can include the transfer of IT assets and people involved with IT to the external entity. (Roland Booijen 2006) The main trend in international businesses nowadays is to outsource their production process as well as some of their services outside of their base country. The term outsourcing basically refers to the process of subcontracting goods and services from an outside supplier, usually from a different country. Most companies choose to outsource because of its many advantages over the traditional process of production. This article will show you some advantages that outsourcing can do for your business. Most companies choose to outsource because it lowers the cost of production and other expenses such as IT services and customer services. China and Vietnam, popular off shoring countries do not have strict labor laws allowing relatively cheaper wages. This guarantees that the company will get the most out of the capital invested in the business. A consequence of the advantage mentioned, outsourcing will reduce the overhead cost of maintaining the business. Outsourcing will allow you to reduce the number of your employees which will lead to savings in utilities, a save in taxes and less insurance among others. This will increase the funding of your company that can be invested in any other parts of the business. Another advantage of outsourcing is gives you better control of your business. Outsourcing can significantly reduce the number of your employees, thus making the rest of the staff easily manageable. By that, you can increase the responsibility of your workers inside your company and make them feel like a part of the business, something they have put their effort to bloom. Outsourcing gives you the chance to focus on other business aspects like the marketing process. By taking other parts of the business like production and other process away, you have more time to plan others steps of your company like how to sell you r products in a more efficient way. This can give you the weapons to become a recognizable marketing power company. Another advantage of outsourcing is that it allows you to choose professional level of processing or utilization according to the needs of your company. Since you choose expertise in their field, the quality of your service will also improve. Outsourcing would mean to expose your production to external procedures that you may not know or considered looking into. This can provide innovation capabilities for your business. This provides useful information on how to improve your products by using the earned technological info and professional production means. These are some of the benefits that outsourcing can brink to your business. In companies like Tesco using outsourcing can benefit in many ways as this huge business colossus always needs innovation, using outsourcing provides fresh ideas for them and also can keep them focused on other parts of the business like promotion or marketing. As you study your way through using outsourcing you will have to keep in mind that there are advantages to outsourcing and disadvantages of outsourcing. Some of the disadvantages of outsourcing are the following: One disadvantage is loss of management Control .Whether you sign a contract to have another company perform the function of an entire department or single task, you are turning the management and control of that function over to another company. True, you will have a contract, but the managerial control will belong to another company. Your outsourcing company will not be driven by the same standards and mission that drives your company. They will be driven to make a profit from the services that they are providing to you and other businesses like yours. Another disadvantage is hidden costs .You will sign a contract with the outsourcing company that will cover the details of the service that they will be providing. Anything not covered in the contract will be the basis for you to pay additional charges. Additionally, you will experience legal fees to retain a lawyer to review the contacts you will sign. Remember, this is the outsourcing companys business. They have done this before and they are the ones that write the contract. Therefore, you will be at a disadvantage when negotiations start. Yet another drawback may be the threat of Security and confidentiality .The life-blood of any business is the information that keeps it running. If you have payroll, medical records or any other confidential information that will be transmitted to the outsourcing company, there is a risk that the confidentiality may be compromised. If the outsourced function involves sharing proprietary company data or knowledge, this must be taken into account. Evaluate the outsourcing company carefully to make sure your data is protected and the contract has a penalty clause if an incident occurs. One more disadvantage may be quality problems. The outsourcing company will be motivated by profit. Since the contract will fix the price, the only way for them to increase profit will be to decrease expenses. As long as they meet the conditions of the contract, you will pay. In addition, you will lose the ability to rapidly respond to changes in the business environment. The contract will be very specific and you will pay extra for changes. Another disadvantage is to be tied to the financial well-being of another company. Since you will be turning over part of the operations of your business to another company, you will now be tied to the financial well-being of that company. It wouldnt be the first time that an outsourcing company could go bankrupt and leave you holding-the-bag. One more disadvantage is bad publicity and Ill-will .The word outsourcing brings to mind different things to different people. If you live in a community that has an outsourcing company and they employ your friends and neighbors, outsourcing is good. If your friends and neighbors lost their jobs because they were shipped across the state, across the country or across the world, outsourcing will bring bad publicity. If you outsource part of your operations, morale may suffer in the remaining work force. Companies like Tesco can use ITC outsourcing in their intercompany communications, by using a system of comlinks or anything like that. Another possible use is better organizing stock and storage of items by using computer based systems, databases for storage and self items would be a great effective way of ICT usage etc. 2. Knowledge management and Knowledge management systems ( KMS) are a class of informational systems that refer to the application of managing informational knowledge in an organization. That is, they are IT-based systems developed to support and enhance the organizational processes of knowledge creation, storage/retrieval, transfer, and application. Although not all KM initiatives involve an implementation of IT, and admonitions against an emphasis on IT at the expense of the social and cultural facets of KM are not uncommon (Davenport and Prusak 1998; Malhotra 1999; O.Dell and Grayson 1998), many KM initiatives rely on IT as an important enabler. While IT does not apply to all of the issues of knowledge management, it can support KM in many ways. A very common application of knowledge management systems is the creation of knowledge networks (Ruggles 1998). For example, when Chrysler reorganized from functional to platform based organizational units, they quickly Knowledge management a nd Knowledge management systems (KMS) are a class of informational systems that refer to the application of managing informational knowledge in an organization. For example, when Chrysler reorganized from functional to platform based organizational units, they quickly realized that unless the suspension speciali sts could communicate easily with each other across platform types, expertise would deteriorate. Chrysler formed Tech Cul, bringing people together virtually and face-to-face to exchange and build their collective knowledge in each of the specialty areas. In this case, the knowledge management effort was less focused on mapping expertise or benchmarking than it was on bringing the experts together so that important knowledge was shared and amplified. Providing online forums for communication and discussion may form knowledge networks. The idea of a KM system is to enable employees to have ready access to the organizations documented base of facts, sources of information, and solutions. For example a typical claim justifying the creation of a KM system might run something like this: an engineer could know the metallurgical composition of an alloy that reduces sound in gear systems. Sharing this information organization wide can lead to more effective engine design and it could also lead to ideas for new or improved equipment. A very good example in Tescos case is when they decided to implement an online ordering system that connected the customers with the warehouses and the suppliers. Some of the benefits of KMS systems are: Increased order processing capacity, Reduced hardware cost , Increased flexibility in maintaining supplier relationships , Better integration of programs, increased reliability in day to day operations. The key aspect of KM and KMS is to convince existing long term employees to make use of such systems in order to produce/sell more and drive profits upwards. Such a challenged is described in the Tesco Case Study as far as the living service scheme is described in the context of making employees comfortable with the new changes in the way they operates so far. This was achieved by implementing their managers in the process, in order to encourage employees that they have some ownership over their workplace and was achieved with 3 day workshops. However one of the major drawbacks was that the managers had to face was the skepticism of the employees who viewed the whole scheme as suspicious. Trilogy, the group of companies that was outsourced for this purpose made sure that the whole process would like a completely internal Tesco-like procedure to ensure that they had the employees full trust on the living service program. that unless the suspension specialists could communicate easily with each other across platform types, expertise would deteriorate. Marianne Boruchs Year in Hawaii :: Marianne Boruch Year Hawaii Essays

Marianne Boruch's Year in Hawaii In her poem, â€Å"Year In Hawaii,† Marianne Boruch effectively portrays the feeling of an endless, motionless setting. This lyric poem attempts to transcend time by working with timelessness. The key lines to the poem take place at the very beginning, â€Å"The ocean takes so long/to think about.† Immediately the reader is met with mixed sensations of timelessness as well as restlessness. There’s a dreamy, sluggish feel to her wording. Using the ocean is perfect for evoking this, as looking out at the water, â€Å"Distance stops; one sees the endless line/of something.† So much empty space rolling out and out until it meets the sky. Boruch goes on to make her stance even clearer, â€Å"I was a toad/there, a river thing that got lost.† She places herself as a small, tiny creature that has no grasp of how big its surroundings are. After setting the mood in this tropical haven, Boruch makes a point to explain, â€Å"I never had a vision/about the place. I never thought: this/is the beginning of the world.† Boruch lets the reader know this is not a dream world, this is not something that can be conjured up in the mind and cradled whenever desired. Her time in Hawaii is something that she could have never imagined. This helps the flow of the poem, as she then depicts how easily pleased humans are. â€Å"You’ve seen/the postcards. People buy them thinking/everything worthwhile comes/through a camera lens, and they put them/in a pocket or down the dark throat/of a mailbox someone later opens/with a key.† Finding themselves in this unimaginable tropical island, humans try to capture the unexplainable on a piece of paper and bring it home to their safe comforts. Going back to the running theme of restlessness, Boruch portrays the human desire to be able to see the beauty of this landscape and the resulting unawareness of how unattainable it is. Amazed, they get there and think it is a material thing, believing that a simple postcard will do justice to their paradise. Even though she seems to be depicting a ‘paradise’ mind, Boruch immediately switches over to an ‘everyday’ mind. She describes the natives, â€Å"wanting just to live there, thank you,/going off to work and coming back, normal/things.† It’s as though the natives bring the poem back into time again, while the tourists had been stuck in timelessness.

Caucasian American Race in My Community

Being a Caucasian American residing in Western Massachusetts I believe that my ancestors were native from the polish and Irish descendants. According to the research I conducted I found that under this population the white people are described as those people with an origin from Europe, Middle East or North Africa, the African –American or the popularly known as the â€Å"Blacks† are said to have originated from any black race of the Sub-Saharan Africa, the American Indians who are also referred to as the Alaska Native are those with an origin from any of the people of the North, Central and South America and are popularly known to be maintaining the affiliation of its tribe. The Asian Americans are the people originating from the Far East, South East Asia and the Indian sub-continent and lastly the Hispanics, these is the population that are said to be bi-racial. (Jessica and Claudette, 2002)In the city I find that there are more people from different origins who do no t look like my ethnic group and the majority of them are the African Americans who I find to be people originating from the native Sub-Saharan Africa, who were captives that were enslaved within the boundaries of the United States although some of them originated from the voluntary African Immigrants from Africa. Whereby, in the year 1860, 3.5 million Africans were enslaved in the Southern part of the United States while 500,000 lived free across the United States. (Jessica and Claudette, 2002)How Are The Caucasian Americans Different From The African American?According to research I therefore state that in areas resided by the Caucasian American population is highly developed, taking an example of Western Massachusetts where the Asian Americans are said to be well represented in several professional sectors through which they are said to be earning higher wages especially in the sectors that involve business and technology even though they are poorly represented in the higher manag ement levels. Under this I find that in the year 2002 the businesses for this ethnic group had recorded a number of over 1.1 million businesses where they employed more than 2million workers where they had revenue of above $326 billion.Leadership in My CommunityI find that inequality exist within the ethnic groups in my community, whereby according to a survey done I indicate that disparities exist among the ethnic groups under which it is said that this inequality is practiced where, higher incomes whites and Asians are discriminated from the Blacks the Native Americans.   I therefore say that in my community many leaders come from the rich who take the prerogative to solve problems in the city, solutions put forward by the rich have not worked at all, but have made much harsher the Caucasian American conditions for living where the problem of us the Caucasians get neglected, causing the inter-depended equations to get ever more lopsided and we are back to where we started from i n our normal problems, this shows that there are no solutions that work for the poor and that if there were, communities like mine would already be using them. (Lupton & Power 2002)Under leadership we find this racial discrimination has led to the following effects on the gender sensitivity in my community: Economic development under this, I find that women are said to be disadvantaged by the segregation in the distribution of income and consumption within the Western Massachusetts where the share of the national income shows that there is inequality between women and men in the society, where women are said to have a significantly lower share of national income than men in my city.Personal insecurity the racial discrimination is said to lead to gender segregation among the various ethnic groups in my community thus leading to the women to be at a risk from violence in Western Massachusetts, whereby practices such as the traditional believes where women are regarded as burdens rathe r than assets this is normally practiced in Western MassachusettsMedia Representation of Racism in Western MassachusettsThe need for dependency makes the people in my community to be looking upon the media to be given information about the events taking place and the products present in the market globally, so they have to tolerate the messages by the media so as they get the information about a particular event taking place. In this case we find that the people read, listen and interpret the message depending on their socio-economic class, gender, age, education and their ethnic backgrounds, in this manner we find that they are influenced by the media to carry out a particular action or even to copy the concepts of life shown in the message that is put across to them through advertisements. (Couldry and Curran, 2003)  Under this, I have found out that there is always some disinformation about my ethnic group whereby this practice is not only practiced by the business owners, but it is also used by various political leaders and the government, who influence the media organizations to disseminate certain information that is meant to undermine the Caucasian American community and their leaders in the government and through this, I find that many people are led to take an action depending on the message given to them by the media who are surely, aware that the information included in the advertisement is not true. (Couldry and Curran, 2003)Racial Discrimination in Western Massachusetts SchoolsThe term racial discrimination creates a distinction between one group of people from another, this is normally based on the skin colour, facial features and the hair texture, it normally vary depending on the culture, and social economic factors in my community   According to the secondary research that I conducted, I find that the this area is highly affected by racism in many sectors including schools where racism is practiced through   the separation of students by their colour; I find that many students who attend sub-urban schools are white, since the sub-urban schools are meant for those individuals who are claimed to be belonging to a higher social class this is because the schools are claimed to be of a higher quality compared to the other schools that are attended by the Caucasian   children. (Darnell, James and Downey, 1998)Effects of Racial Segregation in SchoolsI found out that, teachers in many schools are said to be practicing discipline on students depending on the race, gender and socio-economic factors, though many people including teachers, argue that the discipline and policy practices in schools are balanced and objective, there are still main causes that lead to an increase in the number of students of colour being send out of school, there are various causes of racial inequality in discipline implementation in many public schools in my community and   these include;Cultural Insensitivity And Misunderstanding; I find tha t this has been said to be the major factor leading to crisis in discipline systems both in students and the teaching staff that is believed to be leading to the distinction between racial and ethnic groups among students.Due to the growing urban population in my community, many suburban schools are growing, thus increasing the racial and language differences On contrary, the number of teachers decreases as a result of color and social differences in which I find that   many school Administrators employ teachers depending on the number of the colour of the students, this has probably led to a cultural variance through which a number of teachers lack knowledge with the cultural values, and belief systems of the particular students. Therefore due to lack of the teachers’ familiarity with the students’ cultural perspectives the teacher is not able to understand the behaviour of a particular student. (Darnell, James and Downey, 1998)Psychological Insinuation racial discr imination is said to be having psychological implication on various children in the society since the children are forced to participate in a particular culture at school which needs them to alter to their home cultures through this the students face a variety of conflicts giving rise to a psychological and identity problem.Socio-Economic Factors; this is normally experienced in many schools creating differences among the members in the learning institution. For example in a situation where we find a teacher living in a middle social class that has a uniform way of living and a lower income student living in an economically troubled society, this differences between the teacher and the student is said to complicate the relationship between the two groups. (Karl and Linda 1997)Alienation this normally occurs in children due to the assimilation policies that are imposed in schools which are normally meant to break the conversion of culture and language from an older generation to a yo unger generation this leads to the alienating of the native children from their society older to younger stimulating the identity crisis within their societies. This alienation can lead social isolation that might also lead to depression through stress anger and fatigue which normally happen to detract the student from performing in schools.I therefore argue that, racial discrimination in Western Massachusetts   schools has a diversified effects on the students which normally differ with the presence of many factors including those of self attitudes and the cultural and socio-economic backgrounds this factors target the performance of the students whereby a negative impact is brought that is when a school administration fails to address the needs of its students this may be done when the school administers in formulating its curricula that include the exclusion of minority cultures and languages which proves to lack relevance to the students thus making the students to loose inter est whereby they fail to attend school and some of them dropping out of schools due to the boredom caused by the school curricula this course may also lead to a low literacy rate among the members of the society.RecommendationI therefore conclude that, in most cases lack of motivation leads to, absenteeism, poor performance, lack of involvement in activities, and dropout cases in schools. Most students are said to be undergoing various challenges while at school, these problems may include: fear of failure, lack of academic success, social pressures, lack of confidence in themselves, misplacement of papers and books, frequent absenteeism, lack of motivation and quietness at school as a result of racial discrimination. I recommend teachers in Western Massachusetts to focus on the students’ problems culturally, linguistically and socially and at the same time, they should encourage the students to choose subjects that are of interest to them. The government plays a role of ensur ing that commitments to equal rights and opportunities are upheld and delivered, by setting an enabling environment for gender and racial equality at the country level and in the Western Massachusetts community through the formulation and implementation of conferences and international conformities. Therefore, I recommend that the governments should empower the poor Caucasian American community by improving the internal governance structures, finance management systems, skills knowledge and abilities. Promote linkages, learning and dialogue between the poor and support the formation of umbrella groups that can effectively negotiate member interests with outside activists.ReferenceCouldry N. and Curran, J. Encantar Conjugation in Spanish, Translation, Examples

Encantar is a transitive verb that can be translated as to enchant or to bewitch. However, it is most often used to express an extreme like or love for an object. For example, Me encanta el chocolate is translated as I love chocolate. This article includes encantar conjugations reflecting this usage in the present, past, conditional and future indicative, the present and past subjunctive, the imperative, and other verb forms. Encantar as a Backward Verb The verbs encantar and gustar have a unique property: they are considered backward verbs. They are frequently used in the third  person, where the  subject  in the English sentence becomes the  object  in Spanish. For example, the English sentence I like the house (subject verb object) is reversed as me  gusta  la casa (object verb subject)  in Spanish. If we wish to say I like the house very much or I love the house, the phrase would be translated as Me encanta  la casa. Backward verb sentence construction is not unique to Spanish. English also uses this sentence formation in some instances. For example, look at the flipped sentence, Love matters to me. This backward construction in English and Spanish is inherited from Latin verbs in the 1500s that had this flipped verb-subject usage. The Spanish language uniquely borrowed several verbs from Latin, used the Latin backward construction, and then extended this construction to more than two dozen newly formed verbs over time.   The following list includes other  Spanish backward verbs. Note that most are used to describe opinions or psychological/physical reactions, possession, or involvement. aburrir - to borefaltar - to lackmolestar - to botherinteresar - to interestdisgustar - to disgustpicar - to itchfastidiar - to annoyimportar - to care about somethingquedar - to remain Encantar Conjugation When used with the meaning of to enchant or to bewitch, encantar is conjugated like any regular -ar verb such as tratar, or ayudar. For example, you can say La bruja encanta a la nià ±a (The witch enchants the girl). However, encantar is more commonly used as a backward verb meaning to love something. To reflect this popular usage, this article includes conjugations of encantar as a backward verb. For all of these conjugations, the subject of the sentence is the object that is loved. If the object is singular or a verb, the third person singular conjugation is used, and if the object is plural, the third person plural conjugation is used. Note that all of the conjugations use indirect object pronouns to show who loves the object, and the object always includes the definite article (el, la, los, las). Sentences with verbs like encantar may include the preposition a  plus a pronoun or noun that matches the  indirect object. This is usually included to draw attention to or make explicit the entity that is doing the liking. For example, A muchas mujeres les encantan los cuentos de amor,  which means,  Many women really like love stories. Present Indicative A mà me encanta(n) Me encanta leer. I love reading. Que a ustedes/ellos/ellas les encantase(n) El decorador esperaba que a ellas les encantasen los tulipanes. The decorator hoped that they would love tulips. Encantar Imperative The imperative mood is used to give commands or orders. If you use encantar as a regular verb meaning to enchant or bewitch someone, then you can use the imperative forms as with other regular -ar verbs. However, when encantar is used as a backward verb to mean to love something, the subject of the sentence is the person who loves the object. Therefore, if you form the imperative for these backward verbs, you would be telling the object to enchant the person, instead of telling the person to love the object. For that reason, the imperative forms of encantar are rarely used when the verb is a backward verb. If you wanted to tell someone to love something, you could use a structure with the subjunctive, such as Quiero que te encante bailar (I want you to love dancing).
